Caravans for Sale Near Cairns
A Cairns base, coastal touring or a longer run down the Bruce Highway gives you plenty to look forward to. Buy the van for the roads it will actually tow, then enjoy the side trips without dragging the whole house along. Ask for a video walkaround of our Australian made range before planning an inspection down south.

Allow several travel days between Cairns and our yard
From the Eastern Service Road beside our Burpengary showroom to Cairns Central, the mapped drive is around 1,656km. The Bruce Highway route passes Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville, then Ingham, Tully and Innisfail. Car driving time adds up to about 21 hours and 25 minutes, before rest or congestion.
Use that for planning several travel days, not timing a tow home. Every handover happens at 290 Eastern Service Rd, Burpengary. When planning yours, leave room for overnight stops and learning the van before the return north. Check highway conditions and compare a delivery quote if the collection trip does not suit. You have options before packing the car.
Start with the FNQ trips the van will tow
Build an itinerary around confirmed caravan accommodation and permitted routes. Staying at a base while exploring separately gives you options without asking the caravan to follow every excursion. Contact each operator with your actual dimensions and setup so the overnight plan matches the rig you intend to bring.
The Bruce Highway links Cairns with Innisfail, Tully, Ingham and Townsville, with more touring country further south. You can plan a coastal journey in stages, leaving room for rest and time at the places you choose. Check current conditions and accommodation before settling the route.
For established parks, compare touring layouts for comfort and useful storage. For permitted unsealed roads, compare semi off road and off road types against the actual route, specifications and tow vehicle. Family bunk layouts give everybody a sleeping space to test.
None of those categories replaces checking access for your own combination.
Heads up: iconic spots like Noah Beach and Cape Melville's Crocodile and Ninian Bay campsites are separate outings, not caravan stops. Noah Beach has trees and tight turns; those Cape Melville sites require high clearance 4WDs for sand and creek crossings. Check alternative accommodation or storage, the vehicle rules below, annual wet season closures and current alerts.
Choose living space for the longer stays
How often will you book serviced accommodation, and how often will you camp independently? Start there when looking at bathrooms, water and power. Ask to see the everyday operating steps on the actual van.
A tank figure or system name is only part of the answer.
Bring your appliance list and describe an ordinary day. Ask what the proposed power setup can support in those conditions. Useful off grid gear is not unlimited electricity.
What you use and what you can put back through charging need to add up.
Open the storage with your own gear in mind. Can you reach the outside equipment you use often? Then picture everyone inside with the van packed for departure.
A roomy display is nice. It still needs to work with your people and belongings in it.
Put the Cairns packing list beside the vehicle details
Send tow vehicle specifications, accessories and expected passenger numbers early. Include the equipment travelling in the car as well as the caravan. A buying conversation works better when it reflects the holiday you will take, not the lightest possible version of it.
Every van comes with its weighbridge docket, so you know its real weight, not a brochure guess. Have the unfamiliar terms explained and keep unanswered questions on a written list. A brochure for a different configuration can leave important gaps, especially when extra equipment is involved.
Use a public weighbridge for actual loaded measurements when you need them, and get appropriate advice about the results. That step helps ground the towing conversation in real numbers. It is a better starting point than hoping your favourite floor plan will somehow make the limits fit.
Use a video request before planning the drive south
Request a video or FaceTime walkaround with the details you want to see. Cupboards opened, the bed in use, bathroom movement and outside storage access all deserve a look. Ask the camera to follow your routine, not simply show the van's best side.
Our only showroom is in Burpengary, where you can check anything that needs hands on attention. Try seating, reach and bed access in person if you choose to visit. With Cairns a long way north, make that decision around the questions still open rather than feeling you must travel before asking them.
Sunrise sells Australian made caravans and has its own Burpengary service centre. A Cairns address does not mean towing back here for every fix: warranty work is handled through a national warranty network. Finance through Finetic can be discussed with personalised terms and approval subject to lending criteria.
Request an Australia wide delivery quote and compare it with collection. Handover happens at our Burpengary yard, with a walkthrough of the whole van before you tow away. Confirm the transport scope in writing.
If you come down, plan overnight stops and time to get familiar with the van before heading back. The mapped drive is a planning reference, not a challenge to beat.
